Cornbread and Creamed Honey

Happy Friday everybody! This week I have two recipes for you! They go really well together so I decided to post them at the same time. The recipes for this week are cornbread and creamed honey. Here is how to make them.

For the cornbread, you will need: sugar, shortening, butter, 2 eggs, corn meal, flour, baking powder, salt, and evaporated milk.IMG_0972

First cream the shortening, sugar, butter together. IMG_0973Then add the eggs. IMG_0974Add the corn meal, flour, baking powder, salt, and evaporated milk. Mix well BY HAND. IMG_0976Pour it into a greased 9×13 pan and Bake at 400° F for 25 minutes.IMG_0977

For the Creamed Honey, you will need: honey, butter, 1 egg yolk, and vanilla.IMG_0965

Beat all of the ingredients together until creamy (5-10 minutes). Enjoy!IMG_0966 IMG_0971

Cool the bread slightly and serve with the creamed honey.IMG_0978Corn Bread

  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup shortening
  • ¼ tsp. butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup corn meal
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3 tsp. baking soda
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 cup evaporated milk.

First cream the shortening, sugar, butter together. Then add the eggs. Add the corn meal, flour, baking powder, salt, and evaporated milk. Mix well BY HAND. Pour it into a greased 9×13 pan and Bake at 400° F for 25 minutes.

NOTE: This must be HAND MIXED if you use an electric mixer you will over mix it and it won’t turn out. Cornbread

Creamed Honey

  • 2 cups honey
  • 1 cube butter
  • 1 yolk of egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Beat all of the ingredients together until creamy (5-10 minutes). Enjoy!Creamed Honey
