Happy Friday everybody!  This week I have a really fun recipe for you.  I recently learned how to make butter and I was really surprised by how easy it was.  Not only is it really easy to make, homemade butter doesn’t have all of the preservatives that store bought butter has and it tastes a lot better.  So here is how to make your own butter.

Pour some heavy cream into a glass jar, or into the bowl of a stand mixer.  Shake the jar (or turn the mixer on) until you have reached whipped cream.  Then continue shaking or stirring until you have a solid that is separate from a liquid.  The liquid is buttermilk and the solid is your butter.  Pour off the buttermilk into a separate container and enjoy your butter.  Remember, you can use the buttermilk that you set aside for any recipe that calls for buttermilk.  It will taste slightly different but won’t change the recipe other than that.IMG_1696
